The Sierra Navada Mountains.
Spain has two sets of mountain ranges, the Pyrenees in the north and the Sierra Nevada range in the south. The Spanish ski resorts are very quiet and queues’ are nearly non-existent with the majority of people using the slopes being locals.
Snow records within Spanish resorts are very good, the resorts being one of the highest in Europe. The resorts are of a high standard and offer a good selection of bars, clubs and restaurants. Overall Spain provides excellent opportunities for both families and young groups to go skiing.

The Alhambra Palace (in Granada)
This Moorish fortified palace is one of the last remained strong holds of the Moors. The complex is vast and occupies a large portion of the city centre; you’ll need the whole day to explore it.
The Alhambra Palace is opened throughout the year except 1st January and 25th December. Visiting times are 8.30 to 20.00h (1st March to 31st Oct. Last admissions are at 19.00) and 8.30 to 18.00h (1st November to end of February. Last admissions are at 17.00). Night visits in the winter season are on Fridays and Saturdays from 20.00 to 21.30h . In the summer visits are from Tuesday to Thursday and Saturday from 22.00 to 23.30 (ticket sales from 20.45 to 22.30). However, given the large numbers of visitors, visiting times are assigned in a system of slots. This makes it highly advisable to book in advance, especially at popular times.

Ronda
Driving through the Andalucía Mountains, you’ll come to Ronda, perched at the top of a huge cliff, with a magnificent bridge spanning the gorge between the old and new towns. It also has the oldest Bull ring in Spain, and roman baths.

Nerja
It has spectacular caves which are open to the public and hosts an annual music and dance festival within its famous caverns and has been declared a Historic-Artistic Monument. Stalactites and stalagmites create a landscape that seems to be straight out of a fairy tale. The central attraction is the 32m-tall Hall of the Cataclysm. It has been calculated that this space was fashioned by the fall of 1,000 billion drops of water. |
